They say begins with a single step.
Today we set out and take that first step, the carriage is here and everyone is rushing round, trying to get finished in the eleventh hour all those things they forgot in earlier ones. I myself fell prey to that self same madness briefly, but realised that probably where we are going we will be able to take only the clothes we are wearing anyway.
With the utmost of reluctance I have even decided that it was wisest to leave this chest of letters here at the Almayer, entrusted to the safe hands of its young gaurdians; whilst I am out I will post what new missives I have time to write back here, thus if somewhere out in the depths of space my story should come to an end, at least it won’t remain untold, even if perhaps it is never read.
The carriage driver is calling now for us to board, bid me bon voyage and I will bid you adiu from this tranquil place for the last time till events conclude and I can return.
Yours,
Bartleboom Phd.
